If I recall correctly, the song is the opening from Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, right? It's a good song...

Thank you very much. And yes, those moments in the film were some of Hotrod/Rodimus' most defining moments.

That's right. The name of the song is "Hoshi no Dejavu" by Yoko Katori. And its to my knowledge that Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross was adapted as part of the Robotech Saga. In America, it was called "The Robotech Masters" saga.
