This attractive blue furred vixen is probably one of the most popular Starfox characters to date alongside Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, and Wolf O'Donnell. Krystal made her first appearance in 2002 with the release of Starfox Adventures as Fox's official new love interest. She has since appeared in Assault and Command as the newest member of the Starfox team, and has filled in the shoes of Peppy Hare as one of Fox's teammates. She even makes cameo appearances in Brawl during transmission conversations with the other Starfox characters during a fight between two or more characters. In English, Krystal speaks with a British accent and was voiced by Estelle Ellis in Starfox Adventures. In Starfox Assault and Super Smash Brothers Brawl, she was voiced by Alesia Gildewell in English, and by Aya Hara in Japanese.

Before the creation of Starfox Adventures however, Krystal was originally going to be the main character of her own video game called Dinosaur Planet until Shigeru Miyamoto decided that the game should be a Starfox title instead; with Fox McCloud serving as the main character, and with Krystal as taking the usual damsel in distress sort of role. In her first appearance, Krystal dressed in an attire that appeared to be reminiscent to that of a native African tribal warrior. But as of Assault and Command, her attire was changed to that of the current uniforms worn by the Starfox team; she now wears a blue jumpsuit which pretty much blends in with her fur along with blue knee-high boots and a silver ring belt. But she also retains some of her features from her original outfit including the rings on her tail, and the fancy headdress with a jewel in the center. Upon joining the Starfox team after the events in Adventures, Krystal has since learned how to use weapons and to pilot the Arwing, the team's signature aircraft.

Aside from that however, Krystal is also gifted in having the ability of telepathy and has the ability to read people's minds. Because of this ability, she serves as a valuable asset to the team in their missions against the opposing enemy forces. Because of the fact that Starfox Command offers several different endings depending on which path the player chooses, a number of different outcomes occur in the relationship between Fox and Krystal. In one ending, they're married and have a son named Marcus. In another ending, Krystal leaves the team and ends up joining either the Cornerian Military or Team Starwolf, or she leaves the Lylat System altogether, adopting a new identity under the name "Kursed". However, in the Japanese version of the game, Krystal does not change her name.

In the last few years since fans have known her, Krystal has created a considerable number of fans as well as a considerable number of protestors. In fact, based on what I know, Krystal has met with a bunch of mixed reviews from the fanbase; some people believe that she was a great addition to the Starfox saga in terms of acting as one of the few actual female characters with the most importance and significance. While others believe that she ruined the series and the franchise as a whole. Personally, I beg to differ; I think Krystal was a great addition to the franchise. One reason being because she's good looking, and she has a likable personality. The second reason is because Fox McCloud needed someone to act as his personal love interest. And since Nintendo had ultimately discarded Fara Phoenix from the cannon storyline, it only makes sense that Krystal would be a worthy replacement for Fara as Fox's love interest. So in many aspects, I believe that Krystal was and still is a special and noteworthy character to this day. Though her original appearance did have me thinking that she was from a totally different game, I'd say that she's a great companion for Fox McCloud.

Krystal is also the object of obsession to the eyes of Panther Caroso; a newly recruited member of the Starwolf team who made his first appearance in Starfox Assault. He has a rather bizarre fixation with red roses, has a white scar on his cheek, and even has a design of a red rose painted on the side of his Wolfen aircraft. However, despite his obsession towards Krystal, she has rejected him time and time again despite his efforts to win her heart. Quite frankly, I always found this sort of paring to be rather strange for a number of reasons. But I think the main reason for my opinion is because Fox McCloud is rivals with Wolf O'Donnell. And seeing as they've been mortal enemies before and since the events in Starfox 64, wouldn't it be more interesting if Wolf was the one who had a sexual interest in Krystal? Because I mean being Fox's rival, I don't see why Wolf wouldn't be interested in striping him of everything that's important to him including stealing his mate. Because if you ask me, I think it'd make an interesting story if Krystal was torn between Fox and Wolf rather than between Fox and Panther. I don't know. I'm just expressing my own personal opinion. Not that I'd expect people to agree with me or anything.

Because of Krystal's sexually arousing and attractive appearance, she has often been subjected to a number of perverted fanart which I've accidently came across on the internet. Quite frankly, although I do find Krystal to be rather attractive and sexy, I most certainly dislike all the Krystal porn that's out there. Because well... It's just disturbing and disgusting. But despite the horror of what I've seen with my own two eyes, I don't really let that bother me too much since I have a deep sense of respect for Krystal as I have for Lupe from the Sonic universe. Anyway, before I end this, I want to talk a little bit about the illustration I made of her depicted above. This drawing I made of Krystal is based on her Assault design with the blue jumpsuit. I always thought that Krystal's Assault outfit was perfect for her seeing as her fur is a deep blue color that gives me sort of that smooth relaxing sort of sensation. In fact, I can practically imagine her dancing in her own music video while wearing this suit, and winking at her devoted audiences in a suggestive sort of manner. Well, that's enough out of me.
