Description

As far as I'm concerned, this character has not appeared in many cartoons with the exception of at least three shorts which were released in-between the late 80s and early 90s. The shorts include; "Tummy Trouble", "Roller Coaster Rabbit" and "Trail Mix Up". Roger Rabbit is most commonly known by audiences from the 1988 film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" which combined live actors with traditional hand-drawn animation, and was based on the 1981 mystery novel titled "Who Cencored Roger Rabbit" by Gary K. Wolf. The character was voiced by Charles Fleischer.

As depicted in the shorts and in the movie, Roger Rabbit produces cartoons as an actor along with his co-star Baby Herman, who only looks and acts like a normal human baby while performing on screen, but is actually a middle aged man, and a heavy smoker. When not acting for cartoons, Baby Herman displays a considerable measure of adult-like characteristics and often expresses frustration in Roger's careless actions when he screws up in the cartoons they star in. One of his lines he says in the film which indicates his actual age is "I have a 50 year old lust and a 3 year old dinky." Roger also has a wife named Jessica, who has a very attractive appearance and is most notable for her long red hair which covers her right eye. As shown in the movie, Jessica has a job as on-stage performer at a local nightclub.

In the film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", Roger was wrongfully accused for the murder of Marvin Acme, and enlists the help of private-investigator Eddie Valiant (Bob Hoskins) to prove his innocence. But to do this, they must not only track down the true killer of Marvin Acme and later R.K. Maroon, but they must also find Acme's will. In their quest to track down the killer, they are confronted by Judge Doom (Christopher Lloyd) and his weasel henchmen. However, in the end, it turns out that Judge Doom was not human, but a demonic toon who not only killed Acme and Maroon, but was also the killer of Eddie's brother in the past. Oddly, Eddie's brother, Teddy Valiant, is not seen anywhere in the movie except for in old photographs that are seen in Eddie's office. Based on what I've recently learned on the internet, Walt Disney Pictures and Steven Spielberg are planning on making a sequel to "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" simply titled "Roger Rabbit 2". Though it's release date has yet to be announced.

Roger Rabbit is the property of Walt Disney and Touchstone Pictures.
