Goofy

And now here's yet another classic character from Walt Disney, who most audiences know of by heart. Goofy is an anthropomorphic dog who made his first debut in the cartoon "Mickey's Revue", which came out in 1932. He originally appeared as one of the audiences in the cartoon. His original name was Dippy Dawg before he became known by his current name which today's audiences know him by. In the past cartoons, he was voiced by Pinto Colvig.

Goofy is characterized by his clumsy and dim-witted personality along with his reconizable chuckles and laughter. Despite his slow sense of mind however, Goofy is also extreamely caring and warm-hearted and tends to befriend others quite easily. Like his friends Mickey and Donald, Goofy has appeared in a number of cartoon shorts, which range from cartoons dealing with sports, history, hobbies, and sometimes even dangerous adventures like hunting. Examples include; "How to Play Baseball", "How to Play Gulf", "How to Play Football", "Hockey Homicide", "Tiger Trouble", "Goofy Olympics", etc.

In the 90s, Goofy was the father of a son named Max Goof in the 1993 cartoon "Goof Troop". In the series, Max started off as a regular school kid and upon moving into Pete's neighborhood with his father, has since befriended Pete's son PJ. In the 1995 film "A Goofy Movie" Max had grown into his teen years and has since fallen in love with a girl named Roxanne. But since then, he has become very spoiled, bratty, and disrespectful to Goofy, often expressing his frustrations by shouting and talking back to his father. In recent years, Max has appeared as the doorman in the 2001 TV series "House of Mouse".

As for Goofy himself, he in recent years has appeared in the video game series "Kingdom Hearts" as one of the main characters. In the game, he and Donald Duck team up with Sora, the main character, as they venture through various worlds inspired by the past Disney films in their search for Mickey Mouse. Before and upon finding him, they battle evil forces run by Organization XIII. The latest chapter in the series, "Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep" has been released for the playstation portable in Japan as of Janurary 9, 2010. But it has yet to be released in other countries.
