Daffy Duck

Description

And now here's a sketch of Daffy Duck, another classic character from Warner Brothers. This guy ranks one of my personal favorite classic cartoon characters of all time. His first appearance was in the 1937 cartoon short "Porky's Duck Hunt". In the earlier years since his debut, Daffy was a wacky, insane, and unpredictable character who would often lose control of himself, would move around and laugh wildly, with his signature laughter consisting of "woo-hoo" and his motions including jumping and flipping out of control, followed by rapid cartwheels.

As is the case between Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Daffy Duck frequently crosses paths with Bugs Bunny as both his friend and rival. Though there have been several cases where Daffy expressed bitter jealousy towards Bugs and had often tried to outdo his rival by trying to prove himself more worthy of the audiences' attention than Bugs. More often than not however, Daffy's attempts to outdo Bugs end in failiure due to the audiences applauding Bugs instead of Daffy when he shows his face on screen, as seen in the 90s Cartoon Network intros, and in a scene from the 1996 film "Space Jam".

However, Daffy Duck has proven to be quite a success throughout the ages. In fact, despite his frequent and often failed attempts to outdo Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck has a considerably large fan base who look up to him as a special character. And in the 2003 film "Looney Tunes Back in Action" he proved himself to be a hero when he helped Bugs Bunny out of a major jam. This alone served as an indication that despite how much Daffy is overshadowed by Bugs, he's not entirely left in the shadows and has a special place in the hearts of many fans to this day.

Daffy Duck is the property of Warner Brothers.

If only Melissa Duck appeared more often in Looney Tunes projects, I probably would have preferred Daffy Duck even more than his Disney counterpart.
